Research – Chiropractic and the reduction in the risk of falls in the elderly
Falls in the elderly are a significant cause of death, injury and reduced quality of life.
Published in the Journal of Manipulative Therapeutics (JMPT) a 2016 New Zealand study concluded that:
‘Sensorimotor function and multisensory integration associated with fall risk and the physical component of quality of life improved in older adults receiving chiropractic care compared with control.’
In other words, they felt better and were more stable on their feet.
